What do you do at Smithsonian Student Travel?
I have an exciting job as part of our Presidential Inauguration tours team. I help group leaders plan for this special event and make sure they will have a great time in the capital!
What's your favorite part about your job?
What I love about my job is the excitement teachers have about bringing their classrooms to life. The teachers and group leaders I work with are so passionate, and so eager to get students involved in every lesson. It’s truly inspirational. And by supporting these teachers as they plan their trips, it’s rewarding to know even in a small way I am helping students further their education!
Working with teachers now must bring up memories of the teachers you had when you were young. Did you have a favorite teacher?
That would have to be my 5th grade teacher Mrs. Jasmine. She had this way of captivating you the moment you walked into her classroom and she was always so insightful. I remember one specific lesson about settlers coming to America and we got to reenact a dinner feast. We made butter in a churner and tried so many different foods. We also got to dress up in settlers clothing! It was such a memorable experience. Mrs. Jasmine was such a special person and she showed this in everything that she did.
